As You Like It – VORS

The Brand: As You Like It is an old brand from Williams Humbert. It was regularly bottled in the 1970s but was discontinued due to the declining interest in sherry in general and expensive sherry in particular.
The solera of only 27 butts then remained intact, hidden among Canasta butts, and almost forgotten. In late 2012, the butts were rediscovered when WH’s soleras were moved to their current facilities, and they decided to reintroduce it in very limited quantities.

The name is believed to come from the old custom of adding a little sugar to old, dry, sometimes austere Amontillados. Alexander Williams, one of the winery’s founders, frequently did this for his wife Amy. As many of their relatives liked sherry this way, he decided to turn it into a commercial product, based on the Family Reserve Solera that was originally reserved for the owners. The label says Amontillado blend, which means that the amount of Amontillado would be high enough to remain perceptible in the final blend.
