Selección-the dozen (1)

Dos Maderas Selección, chosen as one of the world’s 12 best brands by Drinks International magazine

After being launched towards the end of 2017 our new rum, Selección, has since been included in “The Dozen”, a list published annually by the prestigious magazine Drinks International which selects the 12 best brands of wines and spirits in the world according to the criteria of this prestigious publication. It must be remembered that this magazine also included Dos Maderas 5+5 PX amongst its top 12 brands in 2014.

LUXUS

DOUBLE GOLD FOR LUXUS, TOP OF THE RANGE OF DOS MADERAS RUM.

LUXUS, top of the Dos Maderas Rum range, was awarded two Gold Medals at the Rum Masters 2016 and the World Rum Awards 2016, organised by the prestigious publications The Spirits Business and The Drinks Report, respectively.

“You could find complexity in every rum and every single rum had its own personality” and in the case of Luxus, in accordance with these words from The Spirits Business jury, this personality rests in its dual ageing process, first in the Caribbean and later at the Williams & Humbert bodega in Jerez using the solera aging system. Luxus is aged for 10 years in the Caribbean and for a further 5 in casks which have previously contained one of the oenological jewels of Bodegas Williams & Humbert: Don Guido, a 20 year-old Pedro Ximénez. The result is LUXUS, a 15 year-old rum which contains the essence of both the Caribbean and Jerez.

These awards bestowed by The Spirits Business and The Drinks Report are added to those which another publication, Drinks International, awarded Ron Dos Maderas 5+5 PX after including it in “The Dozen” – which means being among the 12 best brands in the world – and in the Top Ten Trending Brands according to a survey carried out amongst the 50 best bars in the world.

As Ian Burrell, the prestigious Rum Ambassador, states: “Dos Maderas has created its own style. It takes advantage of its dual aging in The Caribbean and in Jerez. It has also employed an old method of using sherry casks as part of the ageing process to create this Jerez rum”

It is precisely this twinning of two cultures – the Caribbean and Jerez – which has led Bodegas Williams & Humbert to collaborate with ICAPO, an organization dedicated to the conservation of the Hawksbill Sea Turtle and emblem of our rum. This species of turtle inhabits the waters of the Caribbean and is in danger of extinction. Williams & Humbert therefore donates part of the profits from sales of Luxus to help in the conservation efforts of the beautiful Hawksbill Sea Turtle.
